The 20th Canterbury Summer Touch League Begins

The first Canterbury touch league was played in 2006 and it has been played every summer since except — due to pandemic restrictions — 2020. That makes 2026 both the 20th anniversary and the 20th edition of the league.

This year we once again have 16 mixed-gender teams playing each week with over 150 players old and new involved. For many years one of these teams has been Burgess Hodgson and we are delighted that they are also our league sponsor this year.

The first competitive games were played on Wednesday and you can find the results and standings here. Defending champions the Wombles are aiming for a third title in a row but they face stiff competition after narrowly losing their opening match.

After seven weeks of round-robin games the top four in each division will progress to the semi-finals. The finals will be played on Wednesday 15th July.
